Privacy policy
Your files
stay on your Mac.
Effective August 24, 2026
Your Oldest File does not collect personal data. File scanning and sorting happen entirely on your Mac, and no file information is transmitted to the developer or a third party.
Data processed on device
Only what is needed to sort
The app processes file names, paths, supported file types, filesystem creation dates, ownership metadata, and scan counts from the folder you choose. This information may be personal, but it remains on your device. File contents are never read.
How access works
You choose the folder
Access begins only after you select a folder using the macOS folder picker. The app receives read-only access to that folder and uses it only for the scan you requested.
Purpose and use
Find and display older files
On-device information is used only to identify up to 50 of the earliest supported files in each category, display those results, and let you open a file or reveal it in Finder.
Collection and sharing
Nothing leaves your Mac
The app does not transmit, sell, rent, share, or otherwise disclose file information or personal data. It has no analytics, advertising, tracking, remote servers, accounts, or third-party service integrations.
Retention and deletion
Results exist only in memory
Scan results are not written to a database or retained by the app. They remain in memory during the current session and are cleared when the app closes. Because the developer receives and stores no user data, there is no developer-held data to request for deletion.
Consent and control
You can stop access
You may cancel the folder picker, close the app to end access, or manage the app’s file permissions in macOS System Settings. The app does not require consent for off-device collection because it performs no off-device collection.
Third parties
No third-party access
Your Oldest File uses Apple system frameworks and does not include third-party runtime dependencies. No third party receives or has access to data processed by the app.
Children’s privacy
No data collected from anyone
The app does not knowingly collect personal data from children or any other user because it does not collect or transmit personal data at all.
Changes and questions
Policy updates stay visible
If the app’s data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before those changes take effect. For privacy questions, visit the support page.
